Scott NaillHVAC/R Instructor-Scott Naill has an extensive background in the HVAC/R field and has been involved in the HVAC/R industry for over eighteen years. His background consists of residential/commercial installation, service, estimator, sales and project managing. He is currently in his thirteenth year as a full-time HVAC/R high school instructor for the Upper Valley JVS, located in Piqua, Ohio; www.uppervalleyhvacr.com. In addition, he is an adjunct professor at Sinclair Community College in its HVAC/R department. During the last ten years, Scott has worked in the summer as a Project Manager for Rieck Services; www.rieckservices.com a mechanical contractor providing temperature control, plumbing, and design/engineering solutions. Recently Scott was hired by the Habegger Corporation http://www.habeggercorp.com/ as their summer commercial insides sales person. The Habegger Corporation is recognized as one of the top wholesale distributors in the country.

Scott obtained his Bachelor of Science in Education from Wright State University. He is now finishing his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Dayton.
Scott was awarded the New Professional Teacher of the Year Award in 2001, for the state of Ohio and Regional One by the Association for Career and Technical Education. In 2001, and 2003, the HVAC/R program, under Scott’s leadership, was designated as a National Promising Program, the only program of its kind in the country to receive this recognition. In 2005, the Ohio School Board Association recognized the HVAC/R program for innovative career-technical programs that increase student achievement in the classroom, the only HVAC/R program in Ohio to receive this honor. In addition, the program received the National Center for Construction, Education, and Research accreditation in 2001. This outstanding program has also been featured in articles in the Dayton Business Journal and the NEWS Magazine.

In addition to his teaching duties, Scott is active in assisting other programs around the country in ways to improve student recruitment and how to work with business and industry. Scott has an outstanding advisory committee comprised of employers throughout Miami, Shelby, Darke, Montgomery, and Clark County, and he is frequently a guest speaker at schools that are trying to help improve the educational process through their advisory committees.

The Upper Valley JVS in 2005 dedicated a new 3,500 square foot HVAC/R lab and technology center which provides high school students and adult student’s hands-on experience and a career path for entering the HVAC/R industry. The facility is supported by a $200,000 grant from Emerson Climate Technologies; www.emersonclimate.com Upper Valley students benefit from the state-of-the art facilities and the facilities are shared with Emerson’s training programs for its national network of wholesalers, distributors, HVAC/R contractors and Emerson employees.

Tony TrappHVAC/R Assistant Instructor -Tony Trapp started his career in the HVAC/R industry seven years ago at the Upper Valley JVS. He is a 1985 graduate of the Electronics Technology program from the Upper Valley JVS, in Piqua, Ohio. His background consists of over twenty years in the office equipment industry as a sales manager and a master service technician on commercial office equipment. He is currently in his sixth year as a HVAC/R high school instructor/lab assistant for the Upper Valley JVS. Due to the growth in the technology of the HVAC/R he brings to the classroom his extensive training in the electronics section to assist students in their understanding of this field.

Tony is currently enrolled in the HVAC/R program at Sinclair Community College, pursuing a degree in HVAC/R.

Tony was awarded the "Distinguished Alumni" award from the Upper Valley JVS in 1998 for his outstanding career in electronics and his community involvement. He continues to increase his knowledge in this industry by working in the summer, at Area Energy & Electric, in Sidney, Ohio: www.areaelectric.com as residential installer of heating and air conditioning systems and electrical wiring projects. He has most recently taken a position with Waibel Energy; http://www.waibelenergysystems.com/ as a direct digital controls technician for the Applied Building Solutions division which is a provider of total building solutions.
